Yes friends, it's the holiday season, so as you're all aware just two days from now is National Maple Syrup Day. I'll let you take in this exciting news with a maple hot toddy or maple latte this evening or tomorrow's NMSD eve. Both of which are exquisite beverages and highly recommended depending on the time of day.Who or how any national something-something day is decided is well beyond me, so if anyone has an insight I'd love to hear it. I'd be more than happy to officially dub tomorrow National People Named Ted King Day, but I'm not sure which office of national importance I should march on down to in order to file this claim, I therefore fear it won't come to fruition.Alas.Soon after the giving-of-thanks holiday, I zipped down to Calabasas, CA for what is not yet a national holiday but may as well be one, the Maple Bar Crawl... day. Teaming up with my friends at Pedalers Fork, we schemed how to introduce maple to people who might otherwise be cautious to it. You see, much like Buddy the Elf and Vince Vaughn......I'm a firm believer that the world is a better place with maple syrup. Not simply reserved for your pancakes, it belongs on pretty much everything. A superfood, inhibitor of cancer, Alzheimer's, and diabetes, plus all the electrolytes, amino acids, and antioxidants you could shake a stick at, maple syrup is as delicious as it is healthy. Sure, everything in moderation, right? So even though red wine is packed with riboflavonoids, you probably shouldn't drink it in increments of entire oak barrels. Therefore, working with the very good people of Pedalers -- we discussed ways to bring people right up to the cusp of understanding that maple syrup is not only delish, but it's healthy and good on everything -- and from there they need to take the simple leap of faith and try it, because we've also found that so long as people try UnTapped, they're hooked. So tongue-in-cheek, the (maple) Bar Crawl took off from PF with a morning complete with coffee&maple accompanying tasty UnTapped Maple Waffles, and then we met at the bottom of Latigo Canyon for the convening of maple bars. We were expecting somewhere along the lines of 10-20 people given that we only did cursory advertising on Facebook only, but then when more than 70 people lined up on a brisk and bright early morning, it was a delightful surprise to bring them along for the party.Up and over Rock StoreAnd down Latigo to the designated maple bar spot.Converts all around! So there it is folks, just try it. I understand that nipping some maple syrup can be a leap of faith, but I want you to make that jump. Here's an idea: through January 1, I want you to try UnTapped and therefore I'm offering a discount on everything at UnTapped. Shop here, load up, and use the coupon code tedsaystryit. Bonus, all things UnTapped are terrific stocking stuffers. And in entirely unrelated news, here's a final game. Someone correctly name where my handsome Cannondale Slate, this musical tree stump, and I are in this location blow by commenting to this column entry and I'll just might send you some free UnTapped. Cool? Cool. So where am I?
