A Letter From the Editor
Hello,Less than weeks from now will roll out the third annual Krempels King of the Road Challenge. In my line of work, I have the privilege to race my bike all throughout the world, but this event means more to me than any competition I could be part of. I’m tremendously proud to have helped start this ride and am thrilled to see its growth in these three short years. The Krempels Center has proven invaluable in the recovery from Dad’s stroke a decade ago. He, other members, and their families are offered the unparalleled sense of community in a way I never could have imagined. It is truly a special place living up to its mission as “an organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with brain injury from trauma, tumor, or stroke.”This July in my inaugural Tour de France, I had the dubious distinction of hitting the pavement on stage one resulting in a broken scapula and separated shoulder. I soldiered on for three more days until I was time cut on a cruel stage four. At the pinnacle of my sport, I was left emotionally tattered. Until I put it in perspective. Dad -- and all of those living with brain injury -- exhibit tenacity, perseverance, and determination far greater than what happens on two wheels. If my fifteen minutes of unexpected name-in-the-news garnered me a greater following to direct people to the Krempels Center, then there’s been a silver lining to that cloud. If you’re interested in supporting my fund-raising efforts, you can do so here, and to learn more about the Krempels Center please visit the KrempelsCenter.org.I read a plea for fund raising recently and the person said, "There are two kinds of people: those who will read this and donate and there are those who will read this and not donate. Which are you?" That's elicits an abrupt reaction, but in reality it's absolutely true. For better or worse, there is just one decision to make right now -- to donate or not to donate. You can hit LIKE or write a comment below in support of my ride, but the biggest change you can make is to donate.Thank you,Tedp.s. The new KKotRC jersey looks especially sweet! Check it:
