The Only How-To Guide You Need for Gravel

Life is about cycles. There are highs and lows, busy periods and those of rest, plus everything in between. 2019 was busy. Heck, every year is busy and I chalk that up to having an already busy planned schedule, but then every time something cool/fun/exciting/unexpected comes up, I throw my hand in the air and say, “COUNT ME IN!”

So after a very busy 2019, Laura and I made the conscious decision to settle down a bit in the months of November and December knowing that January was going to turn on the gas once again. For reference, li’ Baby King is due March 17, so with a busy January I’ve also made the decision to stop traveling by February and do my best Clemente Clark Moore and settle down for a long winter’s nap. Again, highs and lows, busy periods and rest — November and December were rest so that I could be ready to charge in January… and then settle down in March for some appropriate nesting.

January was busy with The Coast Ride, the Officially Serious Bicycle Ride number two, and then the SugarCane200, followed by a quick trip home and then off to the Oklahoma Gravel Growler. I did break my rule as to why I would travel into early February, but that’s explained in this video below (specifically 3:20 if you’re really looking for the reason).

And that’s the point of this blog post, my friends. If you have a gravel event on your calendar in 2020 or beyond, I highly recommend checking out this video that Ansel produced during my time at the Oklahoma Gravel Growler!
